Albert Bird Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 11, 2011.
Albert Bird passed away April 10, 2011. He was born in Springer, Oklahoma June 8, 1930.

He is survived by his wife of 60, Carol Joy; son David; daughter, Susanne & husband Thomas Reynolds and their daughter, Sharon Reynolds; son Steven & his wife Judy, their children, Jennifer and husband Todd Wedgeworth, son Shaun & wife Heather Bird. Great-grandchildren Michael Bird and Brooklyn Grace Bird.

He married Carol Joy Mathis May 31, 1950 in Woodward, OK. They moved in 1951 to Oklahoma City where he became a first class mechanic, attending many automotive schools. He leased a Conoco Station at 7600 N Western until 1969 when he established Bird's Automotive at 7230 N Western.

Albert gave his heart and soul to the Lord at the Billy Graham Crusade in 1956. He belonged to Crown Heights Baptist Church for 18 years, then to Quail Springs Baptist until his death. He loved greeting and ushering for both.

Albert loved helping friends and neighbors, loved being out of doors, working on his acreage and his hobby restoring 1960's Ford Mustangs.

I knew Mr. Bird as a child. Often taking my bicycle with a thorn in the tire to his "Birds Conoco" for patch repair. He often repaired it for no charge. He never ever made me feel as if I were a bother to him and I admired him. Often I would watch him and others working the station and cars. What a neat guy he was.

Dearest Carol and Family...I just want to say how grateful I am to have had the chance to meet my wonderful Cousin Albert. With that one meeting I knew what a truly Special Person he was.
I know your hearts are eternally broken and I pray for comfort for all.
God Bless you all.
Love,

I have been asked for years if I was related to the Albert Bird Family and I replied that I didn't think so, but now take that as a compliment as to the character of Mr. Bird and Family.
God Bless,
Phillip Albert Bird, Okc
