Albert Chitwood Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 22, 2025.
Albert Monroe Chitwood passed away on July 11th, 2025 in Bend, Oregon at the age of 61. He was born in Santa Cruz, CA at 12:00 noon on April 17th, 1964. He attended Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa, CA, where he met and married Theresa Schulz and had three daughters. He later married Julia Palter and they had one son together. He found his passion for cooking early in life and that love of food took him all across the United States to kitchens in Sonoma County, Hawaii, Alaska, Wisconsin, and Montana. A renowned chef for over 35 years, Albert always said that cooking was love made visible. He loved the outdoors and especially treasured his time spent near the ocean in Hawaii and California. Albert was larger than life and will be remembered for his adventurous spirit and ability to make friends wherever he went.

Albert was preceded in death by his fathers Ralph Chitwood, Vic Walne, and his son Bryce Chitwood. He is survived by his daughters Ellie Muelrath (Phil), Jessica Chitwood (Aura), Breanna Chitwood (Craig), and step-son Kyle Larini. He is also survived by his mother Gayle McCormick, brothers Nathan Chitwood, Ken Chitwood, Scott Chitwood, and sisters Michele Spaulding and Kathleen Anderson, his many nieces and nephews, and his beloved grandchildren Mariah, Tiger, Addy, Damian, Audrina, Carson Bodhi, and great granddaughter Jenny.

Albert's family takes solace in knowing he has been reunited in heaven with his cherished son Bryce Chitwood. A memorial service will be held in Sonoma County at a later date.
