Albert F. DiMatteo

Albert F. DiMatteo of Downingtown Albert F. DiMatteo, 84, of Downingtown, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at his home with his family at his side. He was the beloved husband of Doris L. DiMatteo (nee Katherman), with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late Frank and Rose Ferri DiMatteo. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War as a plane Captain on the U.S.S. Midway. Mr. DiMatteo was the first person employed by Pepperidge Farm in Downingtown, where he worked as a baker, retiring in 1992 after 43 years of service. Following that, he worked for Downingtown Auto delivering auto parts. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved mowing his lawn. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Albert P. (Rochelle), Patricia A. Nelms (Paul), Denice L., Dennis A. (Ann Fonash), and Deborah L. Hulme. He is also survived by his sister, Peggy; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Sandra; brother, Paul; and sister, Francis. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8th, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, where family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
