Dear Barbara,
I have been thinking of you since learning of Al's death. You and he were always favorites of mine in the Stanford community. Remember the good and slightly nutty times we had at the Stanford campus in Semmering?
Al was a true gentleman and a very fine scholar.
I send my thoughts and love to you and to Elizabeth and Christine.

Dr Hastorf was a superb teacher, and never too busy to meet with the undergraduates in his classes. He had a gift for making the research come alive, always illustrating with a story or anecdote. He is a major reason I went on to graduate study in psychology. My prayers are with his family and friends. Gloria Olsen, BA Psychology, 1964
