My darling cousin Albert...my heart is broken. I cannot and will not accept that you are no longer with us. Because you are still here inside my heart.

I know now why I went to Miami...Hashem sent me to have four years there with you. We were apart for such a long time, but we had many happy times together in Miami. I will treasure the memories of our childhood in Alex...the memories with you in New York and later in Miami. We laughed together on Jewish holidays, at Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, at family weddings. No one can dance the "Hustle" like you! I loved dancing with you, you were a great dancer. Those are the times I'll remember...and no one can take those memories away from me.

I shall never forget how you honoured us at Katja's wedding. You surprised us by singing Frank Sinatra's song "I Did It My Way". You were wonderful...I was so proud of you. You were a star that night, remember how you had a standing ovation? Everyone there clapped like mad...you made us all very happy. I had tears in my eyes from the joy you gave me.

I pray for your soul...may you be reunited with your beloved father, Oncle Charles. With my adored father your Uncle Edouard Hayat, with our Nono and Nona, and with Oncle Soussou. They all loved you very much...we all love you very much. You, Albert Hayat the only boy in this family of girls. A shining example to all your family and to your three beautiful children, may God bless them.

I will not forget you. I will not forget your caring, your kindness towards your dear mother, towards all your family. You have touched me with your love and your kindness towards me. You were always there for me when I needed you. You told me once in Miami "family helps family". This is exactly how you lived.

Al, you were the only brother I had, and you knew that. I will miss you until the day I die. I will continue to pray for you every Shabbat when I light the Shabbat candles. I will pray for you in my Synagogue and I will pray for you on every Jewish holiday. I know you will hear me...I love you with all my heart. If only I could be there now at your Memorial Service in Miami.

Do you remember what I told you once in Miami? "You have earned the name of our beloved grandfather, Albert Hayat. You are precious and good and kind. Just like Nono was".

May you rest in peace dearest Al. I shall come and visit your grave and I will say Kaddish for you. Whether there's a Minyan or not. And I shall leave a few stones. So that you will know that I was there. To visit you and to talk to you.
I love you with all my heart dearest Al.
Ta cousine, Liliane
