Albert Kuhn Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 12, 2005.
KUHN, Albert Albert Kuhn passed away peacefully in the tender loving care of his family at Totem Lodge, Sechelt, BC on Saturday morning, April 16, 2005 at the age of 85 years. A celebration of life service was held from the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home, Salmon Arm, on April 22, 2005 with Jack Bowers presiding. His son, Al, and daughter Uta, presented the eulogy. A reception followed in the Mountainside room at Bowers, giving friends an opportunity to continue sharing memories with the family. Born in Brasov, Romania on August 10, 1919, Albert was the type of man who stood for what was right. He was an airplane mechanic at the US air base in Germany until coming to Canada in 1952 where he worked at Chrysler Motors and later managed an apartment building in Riverside, Ontario. He was always fixing things. With his wife, Erna, they moved to Salmon Arm and Parkview Place in 1992. They loved to travel - Europe, Florida, California and most of Canada. Albert is well remembered for his youthful outlook on life, drives in his red Volkswagen "beetle" and walks around the neighbourhood with his special friend, "Bubbles". He leaves his daughter, Uta (husband Alan) Bangay of Sechelt, his son, Albert Jr. (wife Doreen) in Ontario, 4 grandchildren - Bonita Kuhn, Troy (wife Cheryl), Todd (wife Kelly) and Tim (wife Melanie) Tofflemire and 6 great grandchildren Miranda, Danica, Lance, Tyler, Rowan and Gage Tofflemire - all in Ontario. Willie Makkay is a cousin and good friend in Austria - who he has spend a lot of time with. There are also nieces and nephews in Windsor, Ontario, as well as many friends from when Albert and Erna managed Islandview Towers Apartments on Riverside Drive for many years. Albert was the last member of his family of eight, having recently helped his sister-in-law in Romania, repaying the kindness provided by her husband years ago. Albert was predeceased by his wife Erna on January 16, 2000. Email condolences may be sent to [email protected] Memorial donations in memory of Albert may be sent to the BC Cancer Fund or to the Terry Fox Foundation. Funeral arrangements were in the care of Bowers Funeral Home, Salmon Arm, BC.
