Albert Paul Kovacs, Sr., age 82, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife Patti; daughter Courteney of New York City; son Albert Jr. (Lauren); grandchildren Harper and Sawyer; brother Joseph "Sonny" Kovacs; as well as brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and many friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father Alex Kovacs and mother Julia Beley. Albert proudly served in the U.S. Army, worked for many years at US Steel, and later dedicated his career to protecting others as a firefighter for the City of Pittsburgh. Albert was known for his humor, kindness, and magnetic personality. He never missed a chance to help someone, tell a story, or light up a room with his smile. He was a lifelong Pittsburgh sports fan, an avid puzzle solver, music lover, and man of deep faith. Visitation will be held on September 23, 2025, from 01:00 PM to 08:00 PM at Szal Funeral Home. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on September 24, 2025 at at 10:00 AM at Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, McKees Rocks, PA 15136. We will miss you every single day. We love you. We had the pleasure of his company when he would visit cousins Billy and Marlene..he was always such a pleasure to be around..after reading all of this it sure is an honor to have known him in all his capacities..but also as the down to earth man we did!
