Memphis - Albert Sidney Wood of Memphis Tennessee passed away at home from natural causes on September 11th, 2025. He was born on March 5th, 1939 to beloved parents Murphy B. Wood and Evelyn C. Wood.

Albert was one of two children; and became a Christian who loved learning Biblical scriptures, his favorite verse was John 3:16.

He served in the Tennessee National Guard, Armored Field Artillery Battalion 1955-1959, 3rd Battalion 115t Artillery 1959-1965.

Mr. Wood attended Memphis State University 1957-1961, B.A. 1973, was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, Highland Hundred Club, Tiger's Football Booster Club, and an avid Tigers' fan.

He collected military memorabilia, worked in retail credit and insurance, and was predeceased by his parents.

Albert is survived by his loving wife Otilia C. Wood (Cardona) three sons Russell Wood, Murphy Wood, Jansen C. Wood, his daughter Karla Wood Singh, six beloved grandchildren, and dear sister Susan B. Sterling (Wood).

He also leaves many relatives and friends. Albert Sidney Wood was a loving, caring and considerate man. He will be dearly missed.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025 at memphis Funeral Home-Poplar Chapel, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Memphis Funeral Home - Poplar Chapel. Burial will be in Edmondson Cemetery, 782 Main Street, Southaven, Mississippi following the service.
