Alease Russell Obituary
Alease Harris Russell, 74, of Tallahassee departed this life on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. Funeral services are 1:00 p.m. Saturday at her church, Shady Grove No. 1 Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Chester Brown, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Viewing-visitation is 3-7:30 p.m. Friday at TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE 850-942-1950. A retired dietary aide ("the cafeteria lady") with Leon County Schools, she had lived in Belle Glade, FL several years before returning to this area. Treasuring her love and memory are her sons, Robert Jr. (Yvonne), Arthur (Kathy), Minister Willie (Jennifer) and Tellis Gaines, Roosevelt Jr. (Vanessa), Johnny (Sheila), Gregory (Fortune), Tony and Stephon Russell and Virgil (Wyetha) Harris; daughters, Mary Jane Knight, Janice Whitaker and Monica Russell (Rex) Edrington and a granddaughter raised as a daughter, Robin Malone and several grand and great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Monica and Robin, I am very sorry for you loss. I know how close you were and what an influence "Mama" had on your life. You were truly fortunate to have such a wonderful person in your life. I only wish I had the opportunity to have met the woman who raised such beautiful children. Monica, I will cherish the recipe for not just sweet potato pie....but "Monica's Mama's Sweet Potato Pie", at which I think I had three pieces at our dessert buffet; treasured memories of a woman I never met will stay in my heart forever.
