Airman Alec M. Dye, 24 of Mooresville, IN passed away unexpectedly in Guam where he was stationed with the United States Air Force. Alec was born on October 9, 1990 in Indianapolis, IN to Michael "Mike" and Donna J. (Strauch) Dye. Alec was a 2009 graduate of Decatur Central High School in Indianapolis, IN where he played on the Decatur Hawks Basketball Team . Alec also attended the University of Indianapolis for 1 year where he also played basketball. Alec was a known for his bright smile and bringing joy to everyone he would meet. Alec loved basketball and loved to watch his Kentucky Wildcats He also loved fishing and family/friend gatherings. Alec was a friend to all and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his parents, Mike L. and Donna J. (Strauch) Dye, sister, Kourtney L. Dye, grandparents, Linda and Danny Douglas, Lee Richard and Geraldine Dye, Phil and Barb Strauch, Aunts and Uncles, Tammy (Steve) Coston, Danny(Linda) Dye, Terry Dye, Jack Dye, Tommy Smith, cousins, Todd Smith, Jessica Dye, Kyle Dye, Lindsee Dye, Tyler Gladden, Brandi Dye, Terry Dye, Jr., Davyn Dye, and Josh Doyle. He was preceded in death by his cousin, Trey Smith. Services will be Sunday, December 21, 2014 1PM at Decatur Central High School 5251 Kentucky Ave. Indianapolis, IN, with visitation there on Saturday December 20th 1-6 PM and Sunday from Noon until the service time at 1 PM . Those attending the visitation or service are asked to use Door #16 on the Decatur Central Campus. Flanner and Buchanan-Decatur Township Funeral Center is honored to serve the family and are entrusted with these arrangements. He will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery with full military honors. You are invited to go to the Guest Book page to pass along your personal message or tell a story.
