Alex Adler Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 29, 2023.
Alex J Adler, 92 of Bryn Mawr PA, formerly of Brooklyn, NY died on Tuesday, October 3, 2022. Son of the late Dr Nathan and Sonya Adler; beloved husband of 63 years to Carol Adler (Kowit); amazingly wonderful father to Robert Adler and wife Loren (Vynerib) Adler of Airmont NY, and to Stephanie Adler and husband, John Chilton of Newton, MA; beloved Papa to Yehudis, Miriam, Nosson Tzvi, Malka Sima, and Chana Perel Adler, to Alexandra and Matthew Chilton, and to 5 great grandchildren; loving brother to Miriam Perr (Adler) and the late Dr Danny Adler.

Born in Brooklyn, Alex attended Drake University and received a graduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He had a long and successful career in medical publishing as the Director of Advertising Worldwide for Wyeth International and later, as President of Excerpta Medica, a division of Elsevier.

Alex loved a good meal, a great joke, and most of all a good book, ideally about Winston Churchill and the second World War. Gifted with an incredible sense of humor, Alex was full of kindness, empathy, compassion, and never ending generosity.

I have had the great good fortune to grow up with the Adler household as my second home, with Alex and Carol as dear friends of my parents. My strongest memories of Alex are of him holding court at the head of the dining-room table, wanting friends and family to feel good by inserting his always-excellent humor to conversations. I see that light in Bob and Steph and in Alex's grandchildren. Despite this loss, I smile every time I think of Alex.

Love to all of the Adler clan,
Jen
