Alex CHRYSANTHIS Obituary

Published by TBO.com on May 18, 2010.
CHRYSANTHIS, Alex F. "The Greek," 68, passed away May 12, 2010, with

his devoted wife, Judy, at his side. Greek was born May 25, 1941, in the Bronx, N.Y. He graduated from William Howard Taft High School in 1958. Out of school he went into the banking business and later owned and operated a restaurant in New York until it closed in the 1970s. He also owned dance and karate studios. Greek and his family relocated to Daytona Beach, Fla., then Royal Palm Beach, Fla., where he and a friend started an insurance agency. He continued in the insurance business until he retired in 1995. He then went into the used car business until he moved to Avon Park, Fla., in 2004, where he met and married his current wife, Judy.

His life was full of fun. He never missed an opportunity to tell stories and jokes or make a friend. Never one to shy away from attention, he often entertained from "center stage." American Legion Post 69 was his home away from home, and he will be missed by many. Greek was preceded in death by his parents, Fotis (Fred) and Lillian Chrysanthis; a brother, Jimmy; his first wife, Sandra; and grandson, Eric. Greek is survived by his loving wife, Judy; brother, Chris (Judi) Chrysanthis; daughter, Robin Walker; grand-children, Athena, Nicholas, Jason and Autumn; and great-grandchildren, Brendon and Alexandria. Also surviving are his stepchildren, Lisa, Amy, Teri, Wally and Rusty; 10 stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at Florida Hospital intensive care unit for their compassion and care during this difficult time. They are truly ' Angels of mercy." Memorial donations may be made to Highlands County Animal Shelter, where he recently adopted Oreo, a black and white kitten who provided many hours of entertainment. No funeral or formal memorial services are planned as per Greek' s wishes. There will be a celebration of his life get-together at a future date. The Neptune Society is handling the cremation services.

Dad,
I hope that you knew how much i really loved you. My whole life I knew I should have been a daddy's girl and with you I finally got the loving father I had dreamed of for so long. You brought so much love and laughter into our lives, and of course some chaos too, but I wouldn't want it any other way. I know you are watching over us and I can still feel your love. Until we meet again Dad, Forever your baby girl...

Alex was a truly memorable person whose company we often enjoyed over the years at Chris and Judi's home. We send our thoughts and prayers to Judy and his entire family.
