Alexander Baldini, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 22, 2024.
Alexander Joseph Baldini, Jr. 1944-2024 was affectionately known by those who loved him as "Speedy." He was born in Nashville Tennessee the son and first born of Clare Evelyn Binkley of Goodlettsville Tennessee. He was the beloved brother of Anthony Baldini, Rosie Williams, Rubye Dieu, Minnie "Toots" Griffey (deceased), Mary Jane Hoy and Jera Lea Dieu. He is survived by his two children a son, Alexander Joseph Baldini, III and daughter Andrea Quigley.

He lived in Tennessee, Alabama, California, Pennsylvania, Texas and Yuma, AZ. He served in the 25th Infantry of the U.S. Army in Vietnam 1963-1965. He could always 'Out hunt and Out fish' anyone! He loved playing board games and was a great card player who used his skills and deception to win! And he most often did! He loved to sing Karaoke and his favorite songs were "I'm a Girl Watcher" from the 1960's and "Remember When" by AIan Jackson.

His 80 years on earth he still had that wonderful twinkle in his eyes and that mischievous grin that let him get away with things nobody else ever could.

Growing up, we all have so many fun memories and stories that endeared him to all of us. We hold them in our hearts and cherish every one of them. You will always be the loving son and 'Big Brother' who loved and did your best to protect all of us.

You lived your life just like the song "I Did it My Way" A powerful story that reflects the life of someone who has lived his own way, with all the ups and downs and choices that come with it.

He loved his mama so very much. As per his wishes he will be cremated wrapped in the beautiful quilt she hand-stitched for him. RIP Alex, you were dearly loved and you will be missed by your family and friends.

Revelation 21:4 in the Bible states, "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away".

We spread our brother's ashes January 31, 2025, on what would have been mom's 102nd Birthday. Alex had a toughness to him but deep down inside he was a mama's boy so I think he would be happy with us today. The beautiful Yuma wetlands part of the Colorado River where he used to fish so many times. You made us laugh, you made us cry and made us wonder how you got away and survived all your escapades. RIP Alex
P.S. Right under the Beaver tree!

Alex knew the many health issues he faced. He just wanted to hang in there for his 80th Birthday on May 8th. We laughed and celebrated with him. It was so beautiful to see him smile and ogle that chocolate Birthday cake!

My sister Rubye does not do social media but I want to thank her for the selfless care and love she gave to our brother. He was with us a lot longer because of her devotion to him the last few years. He was so thankful for her support and love. I love you forever Sis.

I will truly miss my big brother. We did so many things together that I would be pressed to pick my favorite. Yes, He had that mischievous way about him and so many times I think we made it through by sheer luck. As kids, we worked hard and played even harder. Biking, hiking, fishing, or just hanging out together. I remember when he and I took the bus to Pacific Ocean Park and got a lecher from the bus driver because he couldn't break a twenty-dollar bill. He said that kids these days get everything handed to them. He couldn't be further from the truth. These are the times I will remember and cherish. I love you, brother, and will keep you in my thoughts each day of my life.

You were the best brother you knew how to be. Jeff and I loved you so much. I have a lifetime of memories to hold in my heart forever: Detroit Hudson Day Parade, Jefferson Amusement Park, Belle Isle Ferry trips to Canada, White Castle Burgers, Hunting squirrel and rabbits in the deep woods of Alabama, picking cotton, living in a real log cabin, fishing in every creek, stream, river and lake, hitchhiking from Alabama to Tennessee and back, Hiking in Griffith Park to Bees Rock and the Observatory, trips to Carmel-by-the-Sea and Big Bear California, and across the country with you in your Roadrunner, playing the Poker machines at any Casino nearby, trips to Yuma to visit you, laughing at all the things you got into and somehow managed to get out of. . .etc. I will forever be grateful that I went to see you a few days before you passed and playing Rummikub and how you 'accidentally-on-purpose' dropped the two wild card tiles and smiling that infectious devilish grin. You are with our sweet mama now. Give her and Toots a big hug. Your sister who loved you dearly. Rosie

You were the best big brother you knew how to be. So many laughs, so many memories that will stay in my heart forever: The Hudson Parade in Detroit, Franklin Cider Mill trips after Church, Belle Isle Ferry to Canada, Hitchhiking from Alabama to Tennessee, Hunting in the deep woods of Alabama, picking cotton, fishing, singing Karaoke, shooting pool, Playing Poker on the machines at any Casino nearby, etc. I will always remember playing Rummikub with you and Rubye a few days before you passed.
