Hey Keating, best friend. It's Monica.
All we did was laugh.
I'll never forget your smile. Not many people got to see that. I felt blessed knowing that I was able to make you do that. I just felt blessed to be with you in general.
And I'm going miss you; a lot.
Remember that comment I wrote in your yearbook, that you came and found me the next day, to tell me how much you appreciated it?
"Keating, I know whatever I write will probably not sound as poetic as everybody elses. I just wanted to let you know that in the future, when you're rich and famous, I hope that for one second, you can remember the little
people like me who knew you in high school, because I'll never forget you. All the best always Keating, you deserve it."
I still believe the same thing.
That seat beside me in class and in the library is going to be empty from now on, Keating. But that's okay.
Because that space in my heart that you always had will still be full.
I love you Keating, and I wish your family only the best.

To the Keating Family:
Over the last few days since learning of Alex's passing, the sadness withing the BR community is felt in so many ways. What a profound effect your son and brother has had on us all! He has made so many of us stop and think of how precious life is and how much love and respect on person can hold. Please know we are all thinking of you and remembering you and your cherished son Alex in our hearts and prayers,

Dear Alex, I regret never really getting a chance to get to know you well.
All through my time at St. John's I knew your family and always looked up to you and your brothers. You were kind, loving, helpful, intelligent and an amazing person. You managed to get to church every Sunday and whenever I saw all of you tall Keatings in that row I wanted to know what I could do to make my family like yours.
The only word that comes to mind when I try to describe you is perfection. You were a legend everywhere you went and nobody ever had anything bad to say to you. I have been keeping to myself a lot the past few days to collect my thoughts and I'm just a bystander. I cannot even imagine how your family is getting by, but I want them to know that I have been praying for them and they are constantly in my thoughts.
I've been asking God why you of all people had to go, and I guess he just needed you for something bigger than we can understand.
Rest In Peace Alex.
Nobody will ever forget you. ?

It was with profound sadness that we heard of Alex's passing. He was a friend and inspiration to our son Justin who spoke so highly of him on many occassions. As parents, my husband and I cannot imagine the incredible loss. To the Keating family, may God bless you, comfort and guide you. The memory of Alex's gentle and generous soul will continue to inspire all that knew him. Please accept our deepest condolences.

Dear Alex - what a giant shadow you cast, a shadow of warmth and welcome to anyone around. To me, you've been a mentor and friend, but most of all, a loving, caring nephew. Fond memories of Christmas gatherings, jaunts through Toronto and goofy sleep-overs. Miss you, Uncle Tim.

Alex, you were not just my friends brother, you were a friend in your own light, you would help whenever help was needed, and were always there if anyone ever needed you. I will never forget the years i have spent with you and your family either at your cottage or in your home, those times when we played monopoly or cards at your cottage, or when i could mess up a rubix cube and you would fix it. Also I will never forget how smart you were, if anyone said alex wasnt smart everyone in the room would laugh... because they knew it wasnt true and anyone who said they didn't envy your academics was lying too. Alex i will miss you dearly but will never forget you, from when I met you when i was little until now, i have always considered you a friend, going to your house or cottage will never be the same.
Keatings,
If i can do anything in any way possible i will be there, just call because your family has been close to me since I was a child and have helped me through many of my problems and i appreciate it, i think that this is the time to return the favour.

I couldn't believe it when I heard the news of Alex's passing. He was and is an inspiration - if not to everyone at BR who knew him, then at least to me. I remember talking to Alex in the halls, and sharing my worries about classes and such. And he always told me "Ah, don't worry about it. You're a smart kid, you'll make it through." As corny as this may sound, everytime I walked away I thought "Well if Alex thinks I can, then I must be able to." His intelligence was extraordinary, but so was his spirit. Alex was always modest, and more than willing to help those around him. He never said a bad word about anyone - something that I cant say about anyone else I know. Not to mention his sense of humour, his optimism - I could continue forever. So, Alex, thank you. Thank you for the memories, thank you for the support, and thank you for being you. It's sometimes said that if you affect just one person, one simple person, than your life was worthwhile. You've left your mark on me, but also the other 1300+ students, family members, and friends who have joined a group in your memory on Facebook - I think that says it all.

My Message To Alex's Family

God bless you. You brought a wonderful young man in to this world, and shared life with him, shaping him into the role model and hero that we will continue to remember forever. My condolences go out to you, and be sure you will be in the thoughts and prayers of my entire family.

Rest In Peace
