I was lucky enough to have Xan as my second brother for so many years.. Every single weekend for so long was spent us four Aud Cam Xan and me. Hanging out so much that we fought like we were family. Thank you for being a great friend to Cameron and a perfect older brother to my oldest and first best friend. You'll be so so missed

There are no words that will make the pain go away. Xan was such a sweet boy who spent many a weekend with us during his adolescence. Audrey, Lindsay Cameron and Xan played, talked, fought, played and talked sports at each other's houses for years. I have wonderful memories of him riding a four wheeler and gathering potatoes from our garden in Virginia. We will hold tight to those memories as he did to those potatoes so he wouldn't lose one. He was a good boy who became a good man. Peace to his family

Phillip and Family,
Words cannot express the sorrow I feel for you and your family. I watched the beautiful video and what a life he had in the short time he was given here. It seemed he lived every moment to it's fullest and so, so many friends. Such a handsome young man.
I will be keeping you and your family in my thought and prayer's and may God be with all of you in the days ahead. May his memories always be there to warm your heart and may Xan, Rest In Peace.

I first met Xan and his sister Audrey not long after I moved to Charleston in 2000. Phil and I worked together at The Post and Courier and formed a sincere friendship. This, of course, eventually included Phil's beautiful children he so clearly loved and cherished and of both was so proud.
Xan was about five then, Audrey about four. Adorable, the both of them, and so very clearly bonded and loving with each other. This of all things struck me, as well as their love of dogs. I had a cocker named Waco who died in 2003. Both of the children requested being present at his funeral in my garden. Phil was there, too. The children all wanted to be sure Waco, whom they loved, went to heaven. Well, I can assure you he did, with the grace of God and the sweet hearts of Audrey, Xan and Phil to guide him. They also eagerly awaited the arrival of my next cocker, Tann Mann, whom they received with loving arms. The kids had a Boynkin named Boudreaux whom they cherished, who, like Xan, left this world far too early.
I saw them blossom into beautiful and loving adults, in the guardianship of their very loving family and parents. The last time I saw Xan, I was having lunch with him and his father at Fleet Landing in downtown Charleston. He was talking about girls, and college and dreams. His endearing smile gracing his beautiful face. I know he's found his heaven, too early, but he's there. God bless you, Xan. You are so loved by so many and forever, including Waco and Tann Mann and Boudreaux. Sweet dreams, sweet boy, and may you rest with the angels and these sweet angel pups until you see your loving sister, father and family again. My love to the entire Bowman family. Thank you for bringing so much love into this world, an eternal gift. I love you! With all my heart, Holly

I was so saddened to hear about Xan's passing. I had the pleasure of knowing Xan and Audrey when they were little. I worked at an after school program they attended every afternoon. Xan was a precious little boy and the best big brother to Audrey. He ALWAYS had a smile on his face. He was funny and silly, smart and sweet. He was fair and included everyone. He was mature beyond his years and a child I will never forget. I am not surprised at all to read about what an incredible man he grew up to be. To the Faherty and Bowman families and his friends I would like to offer my deepest condolences. You're all in my prayers.

As a friend and co-worker of Phil and Maureen, I saw firsthand the love and devotion of Phil towards his children. Although I never met Xan personally, I heard Phil speak so lovingly, almost reverently about him. Phil was and is the most loving father. What every child should experience, unconditional love. And for him to go through that which no parent should ever endure, is beyond painful to fathom. May Xan Rest In Peace, and may his memory forever be a blessing.

I am filled with sorrow hearing about this tragedy. Xan was a quiet student with a genuine smile. We have spoken only a handful of times, but I remember him fondly as someone who worked hard and was sincere. My heartfelt condolences to his friends and family. Warm thoughts, Dr.Sri

My dearest Dawn, Audrey, Phil and family,
I am so sorry.
There are no words to express the sorrow you all feel for the loss of your beloved Xan. May you always honor his spirit, and live your life to it's fullest potential. May you always keep his love close to your heart , and cherish the memories of the life you shared together.
I am grateful and feel blessed to have shared a part of this life with Xan. He may be gone in body, but never in spirit. We will all carry a little piece of Xan with us through the rest of our lives. He was a beautiful soul with a heart of gold.

Some of my best Clemson memories involve Xan. He was my sons Ben's room mate and best friend. Whenever I would come to a home game I would always look forward to seeing and talking to Xan. We tailgated every game. He was friendly, smart, loved sports and I was always interested in him. Just one of those special people who made you always feel good being around. MY birthday last year I drove to see Ben in Clemson and Ben, Xan and myself went to tiger town tavern. We talked, ate and laughed. It was special. I shared with them that was the first time I've been there since I was in school at Clemson. When I heard the news I was saddened beyond belief. I am praying for the entire family and I can honestly say Clemson football games won't be the same for me without Xan. God bless the entire family and please know my entire family is praying for all of you.

A favorite Xan memory of mine is from about 2004. I was conducting a teachers' workshop in Charleston and brought my youngest 2 sons (Thad and Peter) with me. We stayed in downtown Charleston hotel and while I was working, Xan came to the hotel and the 3 boys spent the day playing video games, swimming, jumping on beds and eating candy. When I came back, it looked like drunken monkeys had been living in the room all day. They were all smiles and laughter. I'll miss your sweet, shining soul. Love you.
