Alexis Danieri Obituary

Published by The Press-Enterprise on Jan. 19, 2008.
ALEXIS DANIERI Passed away after a brief illness on January 13, 2008 at 58. After making Corona her home nearly thirty years ago, Alexis became active in many and diverse activities. Her children remember her as the perennial class mom who later branched out to become an enthusiastic coach for local youth soccer teams. The community will perhaps best remember her for her volunteer work for Corona Animal Rescue, the Friends of the Corona Library and the Library's Heritage Room, where she fostered and developed her interest in preserving local history, and for her dedication to Riverside's Heritage House, where she played a central role in the organization of its gardens and its annual plant sale. Alexis also cultivated her own beautiful garden where she grew several varieties of roses, fruit trees and vegetables. She loved animals and took pride in breeding and showing her dogs. She also enjoyed searching for interesting recipes and was a wonderful cook, more for the pleasure it gave others than for herself. In recent years she found fulfillment in her work as a certified family law mediator. Alexis touched many lives and will be fondly remembered by more than she realized. She will be dearly missed by her friend and husband of 29 years, Ron, her children Avery and Stephan, but also by the children of others who often sought her out for mothering, caring and needed shelter. She was predeceased by just a month by Joe Danieri, for whom she felt a special affection, and also leaves behind a large and loving extended family that includes Ruby Danieri, Al and Kathleen Nixon, Fred and Anna Moody, Blair and Carol Moody, Colette Drusedum, Sherry Beach, Amy McGuire, Cheryl, Barrie, Ben and Josh Ratcliffe, cousins and cousins-in-law too numerous to name, and, of course, her beloved dogs, the bouviers Bunker and Tessa and the mischievous boxer, Bella. The family invites friends and family to share memories and celebrate Alexis's life at a gathering in the gardens she loved at the Heritage House at 8193 Magnolia Ave., in Riverside on Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in her name to Heritage House Operations, RMA, c/o Lynn Voorheis, Curator of Historic Structures, Riverside Metropolitan Museum, 3580 Mission Inn Ave., Riverside, CA 92501.

Dear Ron and family,

I am sorry I did not sign the guest book at the Heritage House.
I attempted to write before but for some reason it did not show up here- sorry.
Alexis was a special person I felt
even spiritually connected to - and
I want to thank her for taking an
interest in Timothy, too. He
was fortunate to share her a bit with you Stephan. And I know she will always be in his heart and soul.
I felt so sad that she had to leave so early but I know her spirit lives on!
Love to you all! Heide and all the Joys, too

Ron & Family, my thoughts are with you during this hard time. I remember first meeting Alexis at the Ron's restaurant,Tecate Grill, and talking about how much we loved dogs. She was a wonderful person who had a deep love of living things, especially dogs and plants. We very much appreciated all the work she did here at the Library with the Friends Book Shop. I'm glad that I had the chance to know her.
