Alfonse Morales Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 27, 2021.

Alfonse Morales was born on September 8, 1968 in Big Spring, TX to Fred and Odila Morales.  As a teenager, Fonse loved playing his saxophone, affectionally nicknamed Blondie, which was gifted to him by his father.  He excelled in band, playing with his high school band, jazz band, marching band as well as the color guard.  Everyone wanted to join the band because “The Fonz” made it look so easy.  As an adult, Fonse performed with San Antonio musician Joe Posada’s band, the Royal Jesters and he was so skilled on the saxophone that Shelly Lares even asked him to perform as a soloist in her band; however, he turned her down because he didn’t like playing in smokey bars.

Fonse loved photography and was a very talented photographer. He took photographs for weddings, car shows, as well as many beautiful family photos. One of his photos even won first place in a regional photo competition.   Fonse’s portfolio included photos of many models and even some famous Tejano musicians like Selena and Elida Avante. While Fonse was often hired to take photos at local car shows, his photos always seemed to include more models than they did cars.

His artistic talents and creativity were expressed in so many ways.  In addition to Fonse’s talents as a musician and a photographer, he also loved to write and even had some articles published in a local magazine called Tejano Entertainment.  His creativity shown bright through his personality, too.  Fonse’s wittiness and his ability to easily crack jokes was one of the many reasons why he was beloved by so many.   Fonse’s very first job was in sales and his outgoing personality catapulted his skills as a salesman.  In fact, he worked in sales throughout his entire life up until his final position as a salesman for his friends, Ignacio and Belinda.

Fonse loved sports and, as many probably know, he was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan.  Through thick and thin he loved his Boys!  In addition to loving football, Fonse also enjoyed playing golf and especially loved playing with his friends, Ramon, Greg, Pete, Ignacio and his cousin, Randy.  He also frequently played golf with Tejano singers Little Joe, Ruben Ramos and Ram.

Fonse’s friends spoke very highly of him; he never met a stranger and was always the life of the party.  And while he is most known for his sense of humor, he also had a compassionate side.  If ever one of his friends were feeling down, they could count on him to have something beautiful and encouraging to say and, if he could not express his encouragement in words, he’d send a link to a meaningful song or even some scripture from the Bible to help lift their spirits.  Wherever Fonse went, he brought fun and laughter.  Fonse was a jokester, but he was a very respectful son to his parents, Fred and Odila; a kind loving brother to Amy and Rene; and a proud uncle to his niece and nephew, Ericka and Ivan. And, finally, Fonse’s relationship with God is not one that can be overlooked.  He spoke daily with God who always answered him through scripture and Fonse found peace through his love for God.

Fonse’s passing has left an emptiness in this world and he will be greatly missed.  However, he would not want his friends and family to grieve; instead, he would want us to find joy and happiness in his beautiful memories.

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."
