Alfred Ford Obituary

NEWTON - Alfred Louis Ford, 78, of Grier Street, Newton, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born March 5, 1927, in Watauga County, he was a son of the late Stuart and Lillie Ford. Mr. Ford served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a charter member of Harmony Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was previously employed by Martin Marietta Rock Quarry and was retired from Bassett Furniture. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Ford and James Ford. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Reba Bolick Ford of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Cecil and Janice Ford of Newton and Mark and Michelle Ford of Gaffney, S.C.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Nina and Dale Greeson and Rachel and Alan Keller, all of Conover, and Frances and Keith Roseman of Taylorsville; 14 grandchildren, Tammy Lutz, Todd Ford, Michael Ford, Shannon Knox, Dale Greeson Jr., Erin Rothrock, Kelly Roseman, Scott Wilson, Cassie Wilson, Mandy Wilson, Maggi Ford, Will Ford, Graham Ford and Raven Mojica; 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ray Ford of Morganton, and Paul Ford and Walter Ford, both of Lenoir; and a sister, Lucy Denton of Morganton. Pallbearers will be Todd Ford, Michael Ford, Scott Wilson, Dale Greeson Jr., Pete Lutz and Jason Knox. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Harmony Baptist Church. The Celebration of Life Service will be held in the chapel of Catawba Funerals and Cremations on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at 11 a.m., with the Revs. Larry Reese and Arthur Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the Celebration of Life Room at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, from 6 to 8 p.m., and at other times at the Ford residence.
