ALFRED MINELLA Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 26 to Jul. 27, 2015.
MINELLA
ALFRED "FREDDY" ANGELO
Age 60, of Bridgeville, passed away peacefully after a courageous two and a half year battle with a brain tumor. Beloved husband of Maryann Quinn Minella for 39 years; loving father and mentor to sons, Mike and Vince (Becky) Minella; proud pap pap of Gia Minella; son of Anita and the late Rudolph Minella; brother of Rudy (Ellen), David (Susan) Minella and Cheryl (the late Chuck) Palmer; brother-in-law of Dan (Heather), Theresa and Lisa Quinn, Nancy (Will) Berteotti and the late Bill, Ron and Larry Quinn; also surviving are 26 nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Fred worked for the Bridgeville Borough until his retirement in 2014. Fred was a member of Holy Child Parish, the Italian Club, the Owls Club and the SNPJ Club, where he enjoyed the company of his many good friends. When well, he spent a good bit of his free time at his camp with family and friends, where he taught and shared his passion for hunting and fishing with his sons. The family would like to acknowledge and give special thanks to the Hope Hospice caregivers who so selflessly comforted Fred and his family through this difficult journey, Jody Whalen, Shelly Craig, Jaime Dax, Lee Banko and also Deacon Brian Podobnik of Holy Child Parish for his spiritual guidance and support. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 6-9 p.m. and Monday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the WARCHOL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Holy Child Parish. View and share condolences at:

Dear Mare, Mike and Vince.
This one hits a little too close to home. You have my sincerest condolence for your loss. Freddy was a special guy. That smile is something I will never forget!!
Of course I have been away for awhile but when I would see him, I always got a big bear hug. I...for one (along with most of Bridgeville) will never forget him!
I apologize for not making the viewing as I was out of town.
Love you
John

Our family is sincerely saddened by the loss of your husband and father, Maryanne, Mike and Vince. Our prayers are with you all at this time of pain and sorrow. Fred is fondly remember by us as a gentle kind soul.

Lord, at the moment nothing seems to be able to help the loss You all feel.
Their hearts are broken and their spirits mourn.
All we know is that Your grace is sufficient.
This day, this hour
Moment by moment
we pray for Fred's family to lean on You,
For when we are at our weakest Your strength is strongest.
we pour out our grief to You
And praise You that on one glorious day
When all suffering is over and love has conquered
We shall be together again.
Amen

God does only take the good ones. Fred was a wonderful man, married to a wonderful woman. I never saw Freddy without a smile and he always had a kind word. He and Mary Ann were inseparable & I am certain his sons will carry on his legacy & take care of their Mom. May God bless you all.
