Alfred Segar Obituary
He was born June 19, 1931 on Ridge Road in Athens Township, the son of the late Alfred M. and Jenny Smith Segar Sr.
Alfred graduated from Ulster High School in 1949. He was a Tech Sergeant with the United States Air Force from May of 1951 to May 1955, serving during the Korean Conflict. Alfred graduated from Tri-State University in 1959, BSME. He was employed with I.B.M. Owego as a mechanical engineer, retiring in 1987. Alfred enjoyed hunting. He wrote many articles for various newspapers. Alfred was a member of the amateur radio - extra class – WB21RK, Northern Tier Radio Club, Chi-Hanna Rock & Mineral Club and a 50-year member of the F&AM – Rural Amity Lodge 70; he volunteered for the Amateur Radio Examiner and as a AARP tax consultant for the elderly.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Donald Eiklor in 1987.
Alfred is survived by: his beloved wife of 56 years, Barbara, at home; sons and daughters-in-law, Alfred III and Susan Segar of Athens, Pa., and William C. and Ann Segar of Athens, Pa.; daughter Kathy Eiklor of Athens, Pa.; grandchildren, Daniel and Laura Eiklor of Houston, Texas, Lacey Eiklor of Athens, Pa., and Ryan and Abigail Segar of Athens, Pa.; and his faithful companion Sheshe.
At Alfred's request's there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home Inc., 225 S. Main St., Athens, PA 18810, with Rev. Stephen Park officiating. Burial will be in Orange Hill Cemetery, Athens Twp., Pa. at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations may be made in Alfred's name to a charity of ones choice.

Segar Family,
So saddened to hear of your loss. Al was a great friend and we had many good times together, both at the house and with the Che-Hanna Rock and Club meetings and shows. He will be missed. He was one of our favority "rock hounds". You all are in our thoughts and prayers.
