Alfred was my dad. He was a leader. He was a giver. He was a caring person, generous to a fault. He had the biggest heart and a beautiful mind. He taught me how to love and how to be unselfish to be earnest honest sincere and disciplined he told me he and I were the most alike because we put family first.

I will always remember that as I visited my uncle and he was struggling, he made jokes, smiled with that Shapiro twinkle, and made sure that the last thing he said to me was his wish that I be happy and loved well. May that strength and generosity bless those who miss him dearly.

In the practice of dermatology and life, Al was a mentor to Milton Sarkin who admired him greatly and who always listened to Al's words of advice....in turn Milton mentored Steven, so my dear we know that the circle continues unabated as we watch Jared grow to be the next best Shapiro in a family of great Shapiro men...love, Rhona Guberman

Uncle Al will always be remembered by me as soft-spoken, smiling, gentle and fun. I am sorry we did not see more of him in my older years, but cousins clubs and coming to family events - those memories are a treasure. Love Reina
