THOMPSON ALFRED EDWARD

Alfred Thompson, 86, of Upper St. Clair, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 9, 2018. Beloved husband of Bonnie Thompson, recently celebrating their 63rd wedding anniversary. Loving father of Bob (Pam), Bill (Karen), Tom (Louise) and Sheryl (Randy) Langlois; loving grandfather of Lindsay (Mike) Joyce, Jenny (Andrew) Givens, Jamie (John) Roberts, Todd, Katie, Paige, Erin Thompson and Maddie, Jake and Mackenzie Langlois; proud great-grandfather of Tripp, Liam, Lizzy, Nolan and Lucy. Born in Oak Park, Illinois, Al graduated from the University of Illinois in 1954 with a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering and obtained a Master's degree in International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh in 1986. He enjoyed a successful career at PPG Industries spanning over 33 years. Upon retirement, he was Chairman of the SCORE chapter of Pittsburgh, helping entrepreneurs grow their business. Al thoroughly enjoyed golfing with his family, and celebrated his 70th birthday with a hole in one. Al will most be remembered for his strong faith and his love for family. He was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair, PA since moving to Pittsburgh in 1969. He held positions of Elder and Deacon and volunteered as receptionist for many years. But most of all, he was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa who will be missed by all. Al was preceded in death by his dear granddaughter Bonnie Thompson. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kindred Hospice, 190 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205 or Foundation at Friendship Village, Benevolent Care, 1290 Boyce Road, Upper St. Clair, PA 15241. Viewing will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018, 4-7 p.m. A service will be held for family and friends at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 724-941-3211. Pittsburgh SCORE remembers Al as its chapter chair with fond memories. His service was greatly appreciated and he served with grace and charm. Thanks to his support the chapter continues today with over 40 members and continues to serve the greater Pittsburgh area in support of the entrepreneurial community. May God bless Bonnie and the entire Thompson family.
