Alfredo A Villarreal Jr.

Alfredo A. Villarreal, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 9, 2023 in Portland, Texas at the age of 92. He was born on November 25, 1930 to Alfredo Villarreal, Sr. and Delfina Arevalo Villarreal in Falfurrias, Texas. Alfredo was a proud United States Army Veteran and received a Purple Heart during the Korean War. He worked for many years at the Falfurrias Creamery and then for over 20 years as a Gatekeeper at the Mariposa Ranch.

Alfredo loved the ranch life and was fond of animals. In his younger years, he would take photos of his family so they could always cherish those memories. He also enjoyed music and had a talent for it. Throughout his life, he was always willing to help anyone in need and was a very caring person. He was a great father and grandparent. Alfredo always had a smile on his face and was cheerful up until his last days.

Alfredo is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elia M. Villarreal and brothers, Charlie Cruz and Librado Cruz.

He is survived by his sons, Omar (Aida) Villarreal of Harlingen, Texas and Jose Alfredo "Freddy" (Elda) Villarreal of Hebbronville, Texas; daughters, Marla Villarreal and Norma (Samuel) Maldonado both of Falfurrias; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and one on the way and numerous extended family members.

Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023 at the Alaniz Funeral Home in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias and services will conclude at the Garza / Zamora Cemetery in Falfurrias with Full military honors.
