Alice F. Arellano, 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, after a long illness. She was born in Santa Paula on September 28, 1933 to Ben and Kate Fernandez.
More than anything in her life, Alice was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was so proud of her children: Philbert Jr., Phillip, Phillina and Montie. They were the joys of her life and inherited her unique sense of humor. She left this world greatly comforted by the belief that her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren would raise their own to remember "Grandma Alice" as the witty, fun-loving, caring and affectionate woman they knew her to be.
Alice will be reunited with her father and mother, Ben and Kate Fernandez; brothers and sister; Benjamin Fernandez, Gilbert Fernandez, Thomas Fernandez, Edward Fernandez and Dora Fernandez Mrs. Arellano leaves behind: Philbert Jr. and Dorothy Arellano of Santa Paula, Phillip and Christine Arellano of Oxnard, Phillina Arellano of New Mexico and Montie and Teresa Arellano of Crescent City, CA. Her grandchildren: Phillip and Jeannette Arellano, Cindy and Jim Jordan, Thomas and Geneva Mendez, Corey Arellano, Philicia Arellano, Jenna Arellano and Jason Arellano. Great-Grandchildren: Nicole, Kiana, Phillip Jr., Natalia, Sarah, Nathan, Cy, Corey and Sydney. Also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Twin Pines Healthcare in Santa Paula for the care they delivered to "Grandma Alice" for the last four years.
Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I'll miss you Until we meet again!

Aunt Alice will be missed dearly! She was a quick witted funny lady that always made me laugh. Spending time with her and my father Ed her youngest brother are some of the best times of my life. Sorry for your loss! lots of love.

Dorothy and Phil, When a loved one goes on to a better place, there are no good words of comfort. We who respond can only hope that our friendship will some how help you during this trying times. I know Alice is happy now, she has her memory and strength back, and she can dance and party without end. She will be waiting for her family with loving arms.

Grandma Alice was so much fun. I do remember the "old days" at Santa Paula Healthcare in the kitchen. She always warned everyone "here comes that lady, get a cleaning rag". That lady misses the fun times with her as you all will.

My name is Teresa Fernandez and I am Alice's niece. I had been thinking about her the last several weeks and had planned to call Dorothy to let her know that I was planning to come and visit. My mom and I found out last night through my cousin Dora. I am going to miss her but I know that she is in a better place and is probably having the time of her life right now, reunited with her family.
My dad, mom, and I spent alot of time with her when she was living in the Senior Complex. She had the best sense of humor and could tell the greatest stories.
She will be missed.
