Alice Evelyn Beals
February 26, 1921 - April 2, 2015
Alice Beals, 94, of College Station, passed away on Thursday, April 2, in her home. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 3:30pm, Friday, April 10 at First Presbyterian Church, in Bryan. Her family will greet guests during a funeral reception following the ceremony.Alice was born to Thomas and Bertha Beecraft Farmer in Detroit, Michigan. Married Robert P. Beals on September 6, 1942.
She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and a proud member of the A&M community since 1966. Alice attended Wayne State University and Texas A&M University. She was office manager and administrative assistant to the Director of Programa de Education Americana, a Title III Program, Bryan ISD, for three years, then worked at Texas Agricultural Extension Service for eighteen years, retiring in 1988 as the administrative assistant to the Director.
She offered her time to OPAS in various capacities. Alice loved to travel the world with her husband. She appreciated art and had artistic talent herself. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bryan for over 50 years, serving in several areas, including Deacon and assistant to the Church Librarian.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband of nearly 62 years, Robert P. Beals, Phd; her sister Florence Weller and her brother Marlin Farmer.
She is survived by her four children Patricia Lorraine Winship (Wheeler, OR); Barbara Powe (Houston, TX), Robert P. Beals II (Bryan, TX); and Victoria Miller (Bend, OR); also 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.Memorial donations are kindly asked to be given to Texas A&M scholarship fund or to the Twin City Mission, Bryan, TX.
