Alice Freibert

Mechanicsville - Alice Laverne Freibert (Knott), age 77, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, in Mechanicsville, Virginia after facing complications associated with Parkinson's Disease. Born on February 29, 1948, in Louisville, Kentucky, Alice was a leap day baby whose rare birthday provoked the reaction of "Really?" throughout her life. She was the daughter of Lewis and Emma Knott (Nichols), who preceded her in death.

Alice shared her life with her surviving, devoted husband - Kenneth Freibert. She is lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings: brother Carl Knott; sister Phyllis Freibert (Knott) and her husband Alvin; sister Leslie Frye (Knott) and her husband Gary; and brother Lawrence Knott and his wife Anita; along with numerous adored in-laws, nieces, nephews & cousins. Her daughter, Jayda Freibert, and husband, Eric Fidler, proudly brought Alice's only grandkid into the world - Kennon Fidler. Kennon was the light in Alice's life. He sparked many visits to Richmond, VA, too many Skype calls to mention & motivation for cherished family vacations in the Outer Banks, NC.

Alice & her siblings grew up on her parents' farm in West Point, KY - known by most as "The Hill." Alice graduated from Shepherdsville High School in 1964 and went on to pursue higher education with determination as the first person to attend college in the family. She earned her bachelor's degree Cum Laude from Western Kentucky University and later completed a master's degree at the University of Louisville.

Kenneth & Alice met on The Hill & were married August 16, 1969. They built a stable life grounded in respect for work ethic and raising their daughter. Alice had a long teaching career at Valley High School, Blue Lick Middle School and the Day Treatment Program at the old Shepherdsville Middle School.

Alice was quietly strong and deeply caring. She found joy in simple pleasures-reading books, listening to music, watching soap operas, TV series & movies. She was a "gym rat" for many years at the YMCA in Shepherdsville remaining physically active as long as she could. Her fondness for hummingbirds & flower gardens mirrored her own gentle presence-graceful & observant.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 1-3pm at Paroquet Springs Conference Centre, 395 Paroquet Springs Drive, Shepherdsville, KY 40165.
