Alice R. Gandrud (Rime), age 92, of Mpls, formerly of Sunburg, MN and Hot Springs Village, AR. Preceded in death by husband, Kermit. Survived by daughter, Sonja (James) Rasmussen of Frederick, MD; son, Gary (Mimi) Gandrud; grandchildren, Eric (Kerry) Rasmussen, Kristi (John) Bartho, Sarah (Chris) Robinson and Laura Gandrud; 3 great-grandsons and sister, Esther Wiig. Alice and her husband owned Gandrud's Ladies Apparel in Golden Valley. She was active in Lutheran church organizations and the Kandiyohi County Library Assoc. She also organized the Scandinavian Club in Hot Springs Village. Funeral service Sunday, 1:30 pm at the Minnesota Masonic Home Chapel, 11501 Masonic Home Dr., Bloomington. Private inurnment at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials preferred to donor's choice. Sunset Funeral Chapel 612-789-1535

My mother, Virgene Delphie Swenson Thompson, was born in Sunburg on December 2, 1922. I recall her talking about the Gandruds on many occasions. Her parents were Henry and Johanna Peterson Swenson, also Norwegians, and they lived in town. Mom's oldest sister, Eldred, was the only sibling to remain in Sunburg until she died. She was married to Emil Hellerud. When Mom thinks of good people, she always thinks of Sunburg. I'm sure Alice was one of those "good people."

Our family business, Weavewood, Inc. has been located in Golden Valley since 1956 and I shopped often in the Golden Valley Shopping Center.

Alice sounds like she was a real live wire and I know you'll miss her.
