Child of God, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, church worker, Sunday School teacher, college assistant registrar, and rural mail carrier.
Linda was born to Marvin C. and Doris M (Samuel) Kruse of Forest Park, IL. Marvin was a freight car load inspector for the Belt Line Railroad in Chicago, IL. Doris was a devoted mother and homemaker.
After birth Linda was found to have an "upside down stomach" and needed 4 major surgeries over the next 5 years before she could enjoy a more normal childhood. The Chicago papers followed her progress since most infants would not have survived at that time.
After those noteworthy years Linda enjoyed a fairly normal childhood in the suburbs of Chicago.
Linda worked for Johnson and Johnson while still in high school and, briefly, before leaving for college. Linda trained as a professional church worker at Winfield College, Winfield, KS. She earned a degree in Parish Work. Upon graduation Linda worked for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in St. Louis helping to place seminary graduates in their first parish positions.
Linda married Joseph Frank Sedmera in Oak Park, IL on July 13, 1968. Following a brief honeymoon in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan they settled in Richmond Heights, Missouri. Linda worked for Allstate Insurance Co while Frank finished a Masters in Physics degree at Washington University.
Linda and Frank moved to the Lake City, FL area of Columbia County and Linda worked at Lake City Junior College and Forest Ranger School. She served in the College Registrar's Office, assisting students with registration and all other college records.
Linda soon became a rural carrier for the US Postal Service and enjoyed serving postal customers for nearly 20 years. For much of that time Linda and Frank operated a ranch in Suwannee Valley near White Springs, FL.
Son, Kris was born in 1973 and daughter, Alicia was born in 1982. Linda was a very devoted mother to both her children and utilized all of her skills and gifts in caring for them. She made sure that they knew their Lord. Her children came before any of her other activities.
While living in Lake City, Linda was very active with Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, serving as Sunday School teacher and several other activities. She was very involved with the children Christmas plays and other children projects. Linda was Secretary/Treasurer and President for the Lutheran Womens Missionary Society ( LWML). Linda also held the offices of Vice President and VP of Christian Education for the Florida District of the LWML. She represented the society at 2 national conventions.
Linda developed considerable skills in knitting and other sewing crafts. She designed and made shawls, tablecloths, dresses and sweaters. Her cape designs were published in Crochet World magazine.
Shortly after retiring from the USPS Linda and Frank, moved to Crestview, FL to live with daughter Alicia and son-in-law Michael Steinberg.
Linda is survived by her husband, Frank Sedmera, son Karsten Anton Sedmera, in Hawthorne FL, daughter Alicia Marlene Steinberg in Crestview FL, brother Marvin Kruse and sister Kathy Kruse of the Denver CO area, and grandchildren Jana, Andrew and Petr Sedmera, and Eliana Steinberg.
