Alice Ley Cwetna Obituary
Alice Marie Charlotte (Ley) Cwetna, 88, peacefully passed away at her home on December 30, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 27, 1936, in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg to Michel Ley and Justine Schanen Ley.
Alice is survived by her children, son Michael Cwetna (Erika) of Denver, CO; daughter Deborah Phillips (Hunter) of Huntersville, NC; and son Thomas Cwetna (Karla) of Atlanta, GA. She was a proud grandmother to Sophia, William, Alice, and Benny. Alice is also survived by her sisters, Maggy Steffen-Ley (Jemp) of Schuttrange, Luxembourg, and Lucienne Klein-Ley (Alphonse) of Schrassig, Luxembourg, and their children.
Alice spent her early years in Luxembourg City, where she worked until her marriage in 1964. Over the years, she lived in Luxembourg, the United States and Germany. In her later years, Alice eventually settled in the United States where she split her time between her children in Huntersville, NC and Atlanta, GA.
Known for her soft-spoken and gentle nature, Alice was also one of the strongest individuals you could know - never one to complain and always putting the needs of her family ahead of her own. Alice cherished the time spent with dear friends she made through her walking club and 55+ club and enjoyed games of mahjong and canasta. An avid reader and traveler, Alice found joy in exploring new places and immersing herself in a good book. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with family and being in the company of others.
A private ceremony will be held in Luxembourg to honor and celebrate her life.
