Alice Mand Obituary

Alice K. Mand, age 81, of King Veterans Home, Wisconsin, and formerly of Chilton, died on Friday, July 25, 2008 at King Veterans Home. She was born June 9, 1927 in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of the late James and Alice (Gray) Hutchison. She married John Kilroy, Sr. in Pittsburgh, PA. In her early years she worked as a secretary at US Steel in Pittsburgh. The couple moved to Wisconsin where she volunteered for girls scout councils and also at the Milwaukee Public Museum in Milwaukee. She was preceded in death by her husband John in March of 1975. She then earned her degree in early childhood education and became a social worker for Calumet County where she met Bob. She married Robert A. Mand on September 1, 1978 at St. Mary's Church in Chilton. Alice was very proud to be the chairman of Calumet County's Republican Party and regardless of where she lived she was always involved in church activities. Survivors include her husband: Bob; children: Margaret VanWinkel of Granite City, IL, John (Jill) Kilroy, Jr., of Springfield, IL, and Bridget (Paul) Engel of New Holstein; step-children: John (Patti) Mand of Racine, Jim Mand of Madison, Ken (Pam) Mand of DePere, Patty Mand of Wauwatosa, Robert (Karen) Mand of Green Bay, Joan (Cal) Scholz of New Holstein, Michael Mand of Kiel, Mary (Jeff) Kolbe of Chilton, Susan (Larry) Koehler of Chilton, David Mand of Menasha, and Barb Metscher of Sheboygan; 26 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her step-son Steve Mand. Funeral Services will be at 12:30 PM on August 2, 2008 at Wieting Family Funeral Home in Kiel (1212 Teckla Place, Kiel) with the Rev. David Mercer officiating. Burial will be in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at Wieting Family Funeral Home from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 2, 2008.
