Alice McBride Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 19, 2025.
Alice Betty McBride, a vibrant and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 surrounded by her family.

Born in Stockton, California on November 8, 1931, to Kenneth and Elaine Stribley, Alice was a proud Stocktonian through and through. She attended both Edison and Stockton High School and later earned her AA at Delta College.

In 1953 she wed Russell Lee McBride, with whom she shared a long and loving marriage until his passing in 2005.

During their marriage, Alice was a dedicated secretary for the Stockton Unified School District, where she remained until her well-earned retirement.

After she retired, Alice and Russell loved to travel and especially enjoyed Seabright Beach and Kauai.

Russell and Alice raised three children: Roderick, Luzanne (and husband Michael Conrad), and Scott (and wife Anita).

Alice is also survived by her four grandchildren-Kristen Conrad Mullen (Mike), Katie Conrad Comartin (Kevin), Ryan McBride (Christina) and Lauren McBride Wallace (David) and seven great-grandchildren who brought her great joy.

Alice had a strong and spirited personality that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She was an avid bridge player, a loyal fan of the Oakland A's, and a passionate bowler well into her 80s. She was dedicated to supporting UOP women's sports programs and volunteered at the games to benefit Pacific Lions Club.

Strong-willed and never short on sass, Alice lit up every room with her humor and stories. She leaves behind a legacy of love, contagious laughter, and unforgettable one-liners. We will remember her for her loyalty to her family and friends, and she will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Alice's memory can be made to Hospice of San Joaquin.
