Alice Anne Bickham Quin, 89, a resident of
Madison, MS, formerly of Summit, MS; beloved mother of three, Nana of seven and Great Nana of 11, died on July 13, 2025 at the age of 89 at Madison Health and Rehab in
Madison, MS after a lengthy illness.
Born on October 12, 1935, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Alice Anne was the youngest of ten children, born to Benton Oliver and Harriet Toney Bickham. From a young age, she carried a deep devotion to God and a strength of spirit that defined her life. Before the age of 12, Alice Anne lost both of her parents and went to live with her older sister, Lillian and her family. Alice Anne graduated from Tylertown High school, where she met the love of her life, James "Jimmy" Quin. After a first date to the movies, their love story began that would span nearly 60 years. They were married and together they raised three children in Summit, MS. Alice Anne was a member of Summit United Methodist Church where she was involved in the UMW, served as youth group leader, and selflessly volunteered in various committees throughout the years. Alice Anne's devotion to family was unwavering. She served as Cub Scout den mother, Girl Scout Brownie leader, a member of the PTA, and homeroom mother while her kids were in school.
Alice Anne received her LPN degree from Touro School of Nursing in New Orleans. Her nursing career included employment with the student infirmary on the campus of the University of Mississippi, McComb City Hospital, Southwest General Hospital, the ENT clinic of Dr. Holmes and Dr. Austin, the General practice of Dr. Boyd in McComb, and the Woman's hospital in Jackson, MS. She loved nursing but loved grand babies more. As soon as her first granddaughter was born nearby, she stopped her nursing career and began her career as "Nana" full time. Alice Anne was a beloved friend, a devoted wife, a loving mother, and the most incredible Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is loved beyond measure and will be missed more than words can express. Though our hearts ache, we rejoice in the promise that she is now singing with the angels, walking streets of gold with her Savior, and reunited with her beloved Jimmy-perhaps even sitting in a rocker on a heavenly front porch, joyfully awaiting the day her family joins her once again.
Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband, James "Jimmy" Quin; her parents, Benton Oliver and Hattie Toney Bickham; brothers, Benton, Enoch, Woodrow, William, Robert, and Thomas "Preacher"; and sisters, Elaine Rimes, Lillian Conerly and Harriet Hotard. Alice is survived by her children Kathy Willams (Byron), James "Bubba" Quin (Carolyn), and Molly Clay (Robert), her constant companion, Jake, her dog; as well as grandchildren, Jonathan Williams, Laurie Harcrow, Alice Anne Williams Lee (Jeb), Derick Quin (Rickelle), Kaysea Quin, and James Jimmy" Quin III. She also leaves behind eleven great-grandchildren, Cayden, Bowen, Cooper, Julie Anne, Sadie James, Molly Cate, Sebastian, Jayden, Chance, Theo, and Gracie; and two sister-in laws, Barbara Taylor (J.C.) and Cecelia Quin (Bill).
A funeral service to celebrate Alice Anne's life was held at Hartman Jones Funeral Home in
McComb, MS, on Saturday, July 19, 2025. Visitation was held from 12:00 PM until the service at 2:00 PM. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery in Summit, MS.
Pallbearers were Byron Williams, Robert Clay, Jonathan Williams, Jeb Lee, Cayden Ferriss
and Cooper Harcrow.
