Alice Starr Shaw

SHAW, Alice Starr (nee DeWolf). At the age of eighty-eight years, peacefully and painlessly in her sleep at the Royal Victoria Hospital on Monday, October 2, 2006. Widow of the late Gerald Edison Shaw and mother to Gerald DeWolf Shaw. Grandmother to Edward Emory Shaw, Jennifer Louise Houweling and Eric Edison Shaw, great-grandmother to Ryan, Reagan, Eve and Zoe. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and pre-deceased by her late mother Katie Armstead Fitzmaurice and her late father Henry George DeWolf, and her three late brothers, Dwight DeWolf, Vice-Admiral Harry DeWolf, Paul DeWolf and her late sister, Beryl Gordon. Attended Edgehill School and Halifax Ladies College and was a Royal Victoria Hospital Registered Nurse (R.N.) A private service will be held at the Church of St. James the Apostle in Montreal. A service to intern her ashes will be held at Brookside Cemetery, Bedford, Nova Scotia on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 12 noon, to be followed by a reception at the Bedford Basin Yacht Club. Thanks to the wonderful caregivers at the St. Margaret's Home, Westmount, QC and to all the nurses and doctors at both the Emergency and Resuscitation unit and 10 Medical at the Royal Victoria Hospital who made every valiant effort to save her life during this past week and to the Royal Victoria Hospital Chaplin who prepared her for an Everlasting Life.
