Alice Ruth Sundstorm was called home to the Lord on the 9th of October, 2009. She was born on November 26, 1948 in Howell, Mi., the third child and only daughter to Ernie G. and Ruth C. (DeGarmo) House. She was baptized and confirmed on the 16th of August 1964 at Faith Lutheran Church in East Highland, Mi. She also met Jon Sundstrom, her brother's college roommate, in 1964. She graduated from Milford, Mi. in 1966.She initially attended Michigan State University, but after the first year she transferred to Michigan Technological University where Jon was attending. They were married on the 1st of January, 1968 in the middle of Jon's senior year. After graduation, Jon was commissioned and went on active duty in the United States Air Force. They made their home in a variety of locations, and she was the one who made it a home. They lived in Texas, Florida (three times), Canada and overseas in Turkey. In every assignment location, she took college courses that interested her. Finally after 16 years of moving, Jon was stationed at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma City, and Moore became their final home. Alice then attended OU and graduated as a Dietitian, and promptly went on to earn her Master's Degree. Education and learning was of major importance in her life. Shortly after graduation she went to work for the Oklahoma State Health Department. She enjoyed the work and continued working there until her death.After arriving on Moore, they joined St. John's Lutheran in 1984, and this became their church home for the rest of her life. She served as the Church janitor for years, as well as being a member of the Worship Committee and the Stewardship Committee. Most recently, she was elected to the Church School Board.She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jon P. Sundstrom, son Jon E. Sundstrom his wife Kerry and their children/her grandchildren: Nicklas and Samuel; daughter Disa L. Zaiser, her husband Kurt and their children/her grandchildren: Koen, Soren and Annaka. Alice's husband, children and grandchildren were the most important things in her life.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial be made to the School Scholarship Fund, St. John's Lutheran Church and School, 1032 NW 12th St., Moore, OK 73160.Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2009 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Moore, Oklahoma. Services are under John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel.Submitted by family
