Alice Mae WARD

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Ward (Owen) on the morning of March 8, 2021. She died peacefully at home surrounded by family in her 86th year. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 58 years Harold Ward. Dear mother to her six children: Sandy Deck (Cordell); Jim Ward (Lynn); Steve Ward (Lisa); Susie Watts (Todd); Tricia Hough Smith (Iain Smith); Linda Caron (Dan). Alice is mourned by her many grandchildren Josh, Craig, Tyler, Kayla, Devin, Sydney, Jenna, Shane, Jessie, Diana, Carter, Dexter, Kurtis, Trevor, Preston, Charlie, and Tyler. She recently welcomed two great grandchildren Sophie and Lewis. Alice was the youngest of nine children and was born during the Great Depression. She is survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved. She adored children and spent many memorable years as a paediatric nurse at both the St. Catharines General Hospital and the Children's Hospital, in London, Ontario. She was an avid reader and writer and had several articles published in various magazines. Alice had a knack for words and always had a story ready to entertain anyone willing to listen right until her last days. Special thanks to Dr. Lynett, Dr. Safranyos, and the Merritton Community Pharmacy for their care and to Fr. Charles Moser for anointing her before her passing. Due to COVID restrictions a Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life will be held in the spring for Alice with immediate family and friends. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society in Alice's name and may be made through the HAINE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold.
