KULASH Alida de la Rouviere (Badenhorst) It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Alida de la Rouviere on June 27th 2008 at Vancouver General Hospital at the age of 60 years. She was battling breast cancer for the past 3 years. Born in Empangeni, South Africa March 9th, 1948, she attended school there and also in Pretoria. Later graduated from the University of Stellenbosch with a degree in Occupational Therapy. After a short time, she found her niche as a Persian carpet consultant with the Lidchi firm in Johannesburg. She appeared in the Fair Ladies Who's Who 83 Barclays Executive Women's club. Moved to Vancouver in 1985 and married Steve. In Vancouver, she continued as a Persian carpet consultant. Later as a consultant at the Taxidermy studio. Next was Alidas Twin Hollies Bed & Breakfast which she operated for the past 12 years. This kept her in touch with people from all corners of the world. With all her duties, she found time to join the Bby Fish and Game Club and was part of planning the banquets. Also, an executive of the Vancouver Historical Society, a member of the South African Ladies Group (Protea Petals). Rouviere spoke 4 different languages - Afrikaans, Zulu, English and German. She loved International travels and was studying Croatian as that was a very favourite place for her to visit. She enjoyed the many outings of camping and fishing with friends in South Africa and Canada. She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years Steve, son Werner (Emma), extended family Mary (granddaughter Rachel), Brian (Robin), grandson Brian, Stacey, brothers Louwrens (Glenda), Willie (Hetty), sister Elizabeth, nephews, aunts and cousins in South Africa. She will be loved and remembered by many people she came in contact with. At Alida de la Rouviere's request there will be no service. The family would like to thank everyone that was so wonderful in their support. "My mother, without asking always shared her love and laughter with great flair"

It was truely a pleasure to meet Alida at Werner & Emma's wedding in November 06. My thoughts and prayers are with all her loved ones especially Steve, Werner and Emma. May she rest in peace and may all her lovely happy memories keep you strong.

Remembering Rouviere as a wonderful individual with a zest for life, and mother to our son Werner whom we both admired as a very special person. May she rest in peace.

A warm, caring, wonderful Mother. She leaves a huge void of energy, laughter and true zest for life. She made incredible sacrifices, never pitied herself and remained positive right until the end. She introduced me to art, cooking and travel – all of which have become passions.
I will miss her every day, but know that she left in peace and without suffering.

After being neighbours for fifteen years, we will miss her energy and enthusiasm. She always went out of her way to be a gracious host. We send our deepest condolences to Steve, Werner, and both families.
