ROWBOTHAM, Alida (nee Boyce)
January 8, 1930 - July 18, 2015
Alida "Toodles" Rowbotham passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2015 surrounded by her family at the Rockyview Hospital at the age of 85. She will be dearly missed by her three children: Tiffany Haynes of Mesa, AZ, Alison Senycz (John) of Calgary, and Jason Laurie (Roberta) of Calgary; six grandchildren Ashleigh (Marc) Desroches- Senycz, Evan, Brett and Sam Laurie, and Olivia and Sophia Binotto-Laurie; two great- grandchildren Jahden Senycz and Nathan Desroches; and many other relatives and friends. Alida was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Rowbotham; parents Phillip and Alice Boyce; and two sisters Bonnie Welch and Phyllis Sommer. Alida was born in Scotsguard, Saskatchewan and with her family moved to the Community of Victoria Park in Calgary at the young age of ten. She continued her education after high school graduating from Henderson's Business College. Toodles knew communities were important and gave freely of her time and energy to the Victoria Park Community Association serving as President as a younger woman as well as later in life. She was a Director on the Board of the Golden Age Club and supported many other important initiatives. Family was precious to her. She loved her children and grandchildren as evidenced by her love, devotion, great example and daily contact. We will miss her dearly. The family expresses their sincere gratitude to all the health care providers at the Rockyview Hospital Units 71 and 94 for their tender care of our mother. A Funeral Service will be held for Alida at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Heritage Chapel (935 Heritage Drive SW, Calgary) on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
