Alison DOWNEY Obituary
October 4, 1923 - August 3, 2012
Alison (Allie) Downey of Strathmore, passed away peacefully at Sagewood Care Center on August 3, 2012 at the age of 88 years. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Dianne (Don) Georgeson, son Gregg (Barb) Downey, five grandchildren, Leanne (Davey) Roy, Lana (Dave) Green, Tanner (Oleta) Downey, Casey Downey and Kelly (Trevor Brydges) Georgeson. Allie is also survived by eight great grandchildren, Trigger and Kasper Roy, Garrett and Layton Green, Madison, Jory and Lilie Downey, and Charlie Brydges. She was predeceased by her husband Roy in 2007. Allie was raised on the family farm near Carseland by Henry and Jean Groves. She was the youngest of ten children, brothers Harry, Bob, Jim, Jack and Stu, and sisters Mary, Jean, Vi and Mag. A celebration of Allie's life will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Carseland Community Hall at 1:00 p.m. To send condolences, please visit www.wheatlandfuneralhome.ca. Deepest condoelences to all of you! Ali was a fun always happy person. She helped to take care of many including my mom when they lived in Westmount! She will be missed dearly!

Well what can we say. Allie had a great life and added so much to everyone else's life. Her humor will certainly be remembered. At last the old crowd is all together again having a great visit and I am sure Allie will be filling everyone in on what has been going on down here. We are in Fairmont with the family so probably won't make it back for the funeral but our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Our life is better for having known her.

Hoyt of Auntie Allie in her obituary. That is how we remember her with that big smile always telling a joke. To think she chose rodeo weekend to pass on to her next adventure. Love to you all.
