Alize Kasian Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 4 to Jun. 6, 2009.
KASIAN , Alize Katannya Margaret October 16, 1986 - May 30, 2009 It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear Alize while on vacation with her parents in London, England on May 30, 2009. Alize leaves to mourn, her father and mother, Don and Laura Kasian, grandparents Walter and Olga Kasian, and Margaret Colwill. She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, George Colwill in 1994. Alize will be lovingly remembered by her uncles, Dennis Kasian (Vivian), Peter Colwill (Angela), aunts Virginia Lockett (Peter), and Kelay Ohlhauser (Larry), her cousins Laura, Melissa, Madisen, Maurghen, and Carson, and close friends Dan and Linda Domanski, Sandy Irving, Hannah Song, Curtis, and Coco. Alize enrolled in French Immersion in Edmonton in kindergarten and was fluent in French by grade four, a significant asset in her worldly travels! She then moved to Vancouver and completed her junior high and high school at Collingwood School in West Vancouver. Alize attended post-secondary at Concordia University in Montreal for a year and, at the time of her passing, she was enrolled at Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton in the Business Program. Her friends will remember her as a creative artist and a wicked goalie. When her hometown Oilers were on a winning streak, Alize could be known to wear the team colours in her hair and a team jersey to the games. Alize loved life and lived it to the fullest. She especially enjoyed her Sunday dinners with the Domanski family. An avid traveler, Alize enjoyed traveling the world with her parents, when she was not in school or driving around in her beloved Jeep she named "girl". In lieu of flowers a scholarship in Alize's name has been set up at Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton. The "Alize Katannya Margaret Kasian Leadership Award" will exemplify Alize's passion and commitment for community and global citizenship. Donations may be made to Grant MacEwan College at 1-780-497-4285. Alize chose her own path in life and we honor the privilege of sharing this short time with her. Alize, you will always be loved and cherished....au plaisir de se revoir, ma cherie :). Cremation will take place in London and a Memorial Service in Canada will be announced at a later date. Don and Laura wish to express their sincere appreciation to all their friends and relatives who have "gathered" around at this very difficult time. Messages of support and condolences may be sent to [email protected]. A Facebook page entitled "Tribute to our loving friend, Alize Kasian" has been created at www.facebook.com .

I am extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Alize. I was not fortunate enough to have gotten to know her, but I experienced the joy of getting to know you both alot better on my last trip to visit with my parents, John and Denise. You are both very kind and my hearts goes out to you both. My parents are there for you and that makes it a little easier for me, being they were quite close with Alize. You all are in my thoughts and prayers also.

With all my love

Laura and Don, I wish I could write words that would take your pain away, but they dont exist.
Cherish all the memories you have of Alize, how she made you laugh, how she made you proud, how she made you angry. They are all part of your lives together.
It is a shame the rest of the world will not be able to know her as you did.
Thinking of you,

Denise Gardner

Don and Laura,
We will always have fond memories of Alize at the golf course. We have to thank her for introducing us to her version of risotto at her favourite restaurant.
She introduced me to purple eyeshadow and we shared a lot of laughs and fun secrets.
She was smart, interesting, beautiful and a good artist.
We were honored to have known her and will miss her greatly.
Love John and Denise Gardner-Cheng
