1950 - 2016
Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, May 15, 2016, after a courageous battle against multiple health challenges. A most unique flame has been extinguished. Our dearest brother, Allan, will forever be skiing and joking with the angels in heaven with his terrific, often quirky sense of humour, and fierce determination. Beloved son of the late David and the late Bernice Berbrier (nee Mauer). Dear brother of Larry, Uncle of Jennifer Kimmell (nee Berbrier) and Kimberly Berbrier, and former brother-in-law of Dianne Malen, grand uncle of Peyton Kimmell. Especially cherished and beloved by the devoted love of his life and fiancée, Monica MacLellan, and her dear son Bryan. Allan was cherished and loved by all who knew him. He will be very sadly missed by his nieces, numerous friends, family and all who knew him, including his beloved Yeti and Friday, and the late Kiwi and Noel. Chapel service to be held on Wednesday, May 18 at 11 a.m. at Chesed Shel Emes Funeral Home at 935 Beaumont St. Park Extension (just west of De L'Acadie St.). Burial following at Kehal Israel Cemetery, 4189 Sources Boulevard, Dollard Des Ormeaux. Shiva from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday to Friday. Wake to be at 6484 Baldwin Avenue, Anjou H1K 3C5, Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. As per Allan's wishes, donations may be made in his memory to the SPCA or any charity supporting heart research.

I am saddened at Allan's passing. I remember his wild and crazy sense of humour and good times spent with our friends on the Canadian Ski Patrol at Mont Saint-Sauveur in the late 1970s and '80s. Always joking, bigger than life. RIP, Big Al.

To all Allan's friends and loved ones I offer my sincere condolences on his passing. I was one of the many kids who grew up in the Mayfield area in the 60s and 70s and still have many great memories of the people I met and friends I made. Allan was a nice guy .

I mourn for the loss, I grieve for you. To lose the man I have relied on, even for our short time together,has utterly devastated me. You were my source of comfort,love, joy and companionship. You were my confidant and best friend. The depth of my pain is impossible to understand and so deep I can barely come to grips. We were to be married, to have and to hold, but that can never be. the silence is deafening here love.That laugh, those eyes and your crazy sense of humor and your kind soul endeared you to so many. Your health was an issue and I saw you tire these last few months and powerless to help, makes it even more heartbreaking. Never shall I forget your love for me, so intense, never failing.I ask that you watch over us and help us to understand why it is you had to go.I will carry you in my heart always and in time to come,I will rely on memories to fill the void. Memories of long walks, holding hands, kisses and silly faces and ice cream in the park and wet dogs in the rain. AND... how can I ever forget just how much I was loved? Rest now my love. Hi Monica, Allan was a gr8 guy very funny. I played softball with him. He also knew my late father. I remember his love of animals and driving his limo. Allan may not of been rich, but he would help out and give you the shirt off his back.

Allan was that older cousin that never ignored us little ones... he swung me around, put me on his shoulders and goofed it up until I was laughing hysterically... these are the memories I have of my dear cousin Allan. My heart aches knowing I won't be there to bid him goodbye...or won't be able to see him again and swap barbs and jokes. My heartfelt condolences go out to you Monica and thank you, thank you for helping him finally find true love in the last few years of his life. You made him very happy...it was obvious for anyone to see...and that is the best gift one can give another....love & laughter. I am shocked and saddened by Allan's passing away! I know him since we were very young and I lioved him for who he was. No airs - no pretenses. Just a genuine soul with a crazy sense of humour! Allan was an important administrator of our FB "Canadian Volunteers for the Protection of Animals". He loved all animals and was active in our protests against animal cruelty.
