Allan HYNDMAN Obituary

Published by Ottawa Citizen on Dec. 31, 2013.
HYNDMAN, Allan Hubert
Passed away peacefully in his 80th year on December 30, 2013. Pre-deceased by his loving wife of 54 years Marilyn. Allan leaves behind to mourn his beloved children Kevin (Francine), Bruce (Patricia) and Mark (Melissa). Left to grieve are his treasured grandchildren Krystal, Emily, Melanie and Jessica. Loved dearly by sisters Jeen (Bernie), Eileen (Don) and brother John (Gail). Allan was a community leader with accomplishments that made his family proud; a long-standing member and past-president of the Ottawa South Rotary Club, served as a board of director for 5 years with Rotel and was a member of the Home Builder's Association. He was dedicated to his profession having served first as an electrical journeyman and then superintendent of Glebe Electric for 42 years. He was a pillar of strength for his family - a devoted husband, wonderful father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Al was blessed with the compassion and exceptional care of Dr. Asmis and the 5th floor nursing staff at the Ottawa Hospital General campus. A special thank you to all for making his last days comfortable. Visitation for family will be held at Capital Memorial Gardens, 3700 Prince of Wales Drive on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 10:30-11:30 am. Open visitation will be from 11:30-12:45 pm followed by a service at 1 pm. There will be a gravesite visit after the service followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers we respectfully request donations be made to the Ottawa Cancer Society.

Our prayers and thoughts go out to Al's family and friends during this difficult time. Al was a true Community Leader and gave of himself without asking for anything in return. We will certainly miss him.

Many many fond memories of Al. worked with him at Glebe Electric. Marilyn & my dear Aunt Irene were in the same nursing home and so Al and I had many visits. His smile and knowing how and what to say to make one feel better was a gift he had. My sincere sympathy to his family.

I will greatly miss the many conversations I had over the years with Al. He was a smart, kind, and gentle person who never was at a loss for words. He was always looking out for his family and their friends, and spent many hours of his time in support of them. I know he is in a better place now with his loving wife Marilyn. Until we meet again Al, may you rest in peace!

Sending warm thoughts to the family in the loss of a kind, intelligent, caring man. He was a gentleman, and honourable Rotarian that I was proud to have worked with through the Rotary Club of Ottawa South. Al, God bless you and give you peace and your family comfort.
