Milton - A man with a heart of gold and cancer survivor of 28 years, lost his second battle with cancer on December 29, 2018. He was born on September 22, 1931 in Colchester, Vermont. The son of Carmi Ploof and Hazel Sanderson Ploof. Allan worked as a mason with Bob Bushey for nearly 30 years and was also employed by the VFW - Howard Plant Post 782 for more than 20 years. He was a proud lifetime member of the VFW and member of the Eagles Club in Burlington. Allan loved to spend time with family, fishing, mowing the lawn, taking long Sunday drives and watching his favorite football team, the New England Patriots. He was a devoted and selfless man who gave so much and asked for nothing in return. He leaves his partner of 30 years, Patricia Stuart of Milton. Five daughters, Kim Martin of Burlington, Kathy West of Florida, Donna Avila of Burlington, Karen Gordon (Cisco) of Burlington, Janice Ploof (Steph) of Florida, four sons, Arnold Ploof (Ana) of Essex, Ken Ploof (Val) of Burlington, Dennis Stuart of Colchester, Jeff Stuart (Rhonda) of Milton and his sister, Marge Russell of Williston. He also leaves behind 25 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, two God children Shawn Sears of Franklin and Rhonda Stuart or Milton. Allan was predeceased by parents Carmi and Hazel Ploof, wife, Ione Ploof, ex-wife, Greta Ploof, Daughters, Linda Newman, Deborah Gulfield, Son, Gregg Ploof, and nine siblings.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Pasanen and Dr. James Vecchio, as well as, the amazing team of staff at the McClure Miller Respite House. There will be a graveside service and celebration of his life in the spring at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the McClure Miller Respite House, 3113 Roosevelt Hwy, Colchester, VT 05446.

Allen or as I know him cousin will be greatly missed there is no waiting in line at the pearly gates for him the most kind and generous man I have ever known and am proud to have been able to call him my father in law for more than thirty years I will always remember that contagious smile and laughing eyes do not grief his loss for Allen is forever painless and resting comfortable in the afterlife love and miss you Cheryl grodan
