Allan Zorn Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 3, 2006.
ZORN -Allan Claude passed away peacefully at the age of 56 years old with his loving family around him. He was born at the Yorkton Union Hospital on December 3, 1949. Allan was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. The majority of his school years were spent in Strasbourg High from which he graduated in 1967. He spent one year in university at Lutheran College before he entered the work force. In 1969 Allan was employed by the federated CO-OP. With hard work and dedication Allan was promoted through the years from grocery packer when he started to Retail Food Supervisor when he took early retirement. Allan loved his work and developed many meaningful relationships with the people he worked with. He never missed a day of work. While manger of the CO-OP in Flin Flon, Manitoba Allan met and married Lindsay Williamson, together they were blessed with and raised two children, Brenda Lynne and Darren Allan. Allan loved his family and enjoyed them more then anyone can ever know. In 1974, Allan was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Allan fought a long hard battle against this disease because of his strength, determination and support of his family. He remained with his family at home until 1992. He was then cared for by the staff and doctors at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon. He was moved to Parkridge Centre in 1994 where he lived and was lovingly supported for twelve years. Despite the many hardships he endured because of this disease Allan maintained a positive outlook. Anyone who entered his room was greeted with a smile and a funny joke or story usually followed close behind. Allan loved the simple things, a good movie, any kind of food, especially chocolate cake, a great cup of coffee, all kinds of music, fishing, curling, golfing, a good party and especially a good argument. Allan maintained his faith and often looked to God for direction. Through the years Allan enjoyed many good relationships with health care staff, family, friends, and fellow residents. He will be missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. Allan was predeceased by his fatherin-law, Jack Williamson and infant grandson Coen. He leaves to celebrate his life, his wife of 31 years, Lindsay; his precious daughter, Brenda and her husband, Michael; their son and Al's beautiful grandson, Reese; his wonderful son, Darren and his girlfriend, Sarah; his loving parents, Claude and Nelda Zorn, and mother-in-law, Queenie Williamson; his brother, Bryce and his wife, Sylvia and their children, Aaron and Tara (Joey Lasko); his sister, Heather Gartner, her fiance, Lane Chesney and her two children, Aimee and Kayla; sister, Carolee, her husband, Lynton Evans and their children, Rebecca and Jordan; his brother, Michael and his wife, Julie; his sister-in-law, Louise and her husband, Willie Willerton and their children, Larry (Meagan), Kyla (Al) and his great niece, Keana; his sister-in-law, Karen and her husband, Wade Harper and their children, Paige and Erin; his sister-in-law, Kathleen and her husband, Eian McDonald and their children, Nicole, Amy, and Ashley; his brother-in-law, Billy, his wife, Donna and their children, Bill, Shaylene, Jake and Justine; his very special friend, Addie Pawlowski; his cousins, Jake and Janet Giesbrecht; Pastor Ward Stewart, Linda Horton and Pat Kauk from his church family; Aunty Marie Wegner who always made sure Al got to church and all his dedicated care givers at Parkridge Centre. Allan's body will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. from Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1405 31st Street West, Saskatoon, Sask. with Pastor Ward Stewart and Pastor Howard Ulmer officiating. Well Al, the race is run the journey's done and you ran an awesome one my brother. Through everything you've endured in your short years you stayed true to yourself and endured it with a smile on your face. Thanks for your great example! Hey what's the coffee like up there in heaven? Does Jesus take cream? Love you Al, always will. I'll miss you. Your sister,Carolee

Our dear Allan was an inspiration to us all. Allan suffered from MS and lived with this disease for many years. He never complained, he never asked "why me". He accepted his condition with grace and dignity, always greeting all of his visitors with a smile and a twinkle in his eyes. We will miss you Allan, your courage was a wonder and your presence a blessing.
