Allen McCollum Obituary
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. McCollum, who died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at Parkway Medical Center, was born July 14, 1926, in Madison County to George Edgar McCollum and Betty Mitchell McCollum. He was a lineman for Decatur Utilities and owned McCollum’s Catfish Restaurant since 1961. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marie Terry McCollum; one son, Cregg McCollum of Moulton; two daughters, Janice Couch of Moulton and Carolyn Haraway of Athens; one foster son, Robert Blaxton of Trinity; one foster daughter, Judy Bliss of Ohatchee; one brother-in-law, E.C. Terry of Decatur; six grandchildren, Chris McCollum, Jason Couch, Martha Ann Couch, Mark Haraway, Sarah Haraway and Leigh Haraway; one great-grandson, Cale McCollum and two additional great-grandchildren; and three foster grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Hoyt Miller, Jeff Wilbanks, Brad Williams, Cedric Pryor, Ronald Hill and Richard Bachelor.
Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of McCollum’s Catfish Restaurant, Leo Terry, Dr. Robert Allen, Dalton Fanning, Walter Hicks, Hugh Thompson and Wayne Baggett.

Dear McCollum Family,
My Daddy told me abour Mr Allen passing away. Although we hadn't spoken in many years, I thought about him fairly often. I'll never forget how he gave me a job and pretty much treated me as part of the McCollum's family...I remember once him asking me about the dishwashing job at my former employer. I was sweating and grunting over a sinkful at the time, and I said (rather crossly), "They got a big machine." Not missing a beat Mr Allen said, "That's okay, I got a little one!" Everybody in the kitchen busted up laughing. I'll always remember his laugh...May God bless and comfort you all in this time.

Marie and family,
How saddened we were to hear of the death of your dear husband. We have not known him as we have you and Janice. You have always treated us as family when we come to eat every Friday night.
