Allen Paul Mueller

Allen Paul Mueller passed away peacefully on August 30, 2023, surrounded by his dear wife and family members.

Born July 18, 1941, Allen was a loving husband to his devoted wife, Barbara Mueller (nee Bourke). Married for 55 years, their journey began at the Jersey Shore where a girl from County Kilkenny, Ireland, met a 1960 graduate from Bergenfield High School who had just finished serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Allen went on to join the New York City Police Department where he proudly wore his shield in the 42nd Precinct serving and protecting New York residents for 30 years.

Al and Barbara made Sloatsburg, NY, their home for almost 50 years. Civic duty was a foundational part of Al's life; he was a proud and active member of the American Legion, the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association, the Holy Name Society, Rockland County Shields, and the National NYCPD 10-13. For decades he served as an usher and member of St. Joan of Arc parish finance committee in Sloatsburg, NY. In his free time, Al could be found in the bowling alley, at the blackjack table, organizing charity events for children of fallen police officers, or tending to his lawn where he meticulously maintained a colorful and ever changing garden. Al was known to go all out decorating the house for every holiday. On Halloween the Mueller's always had the longest line of neighborhood kids, and at Christmas, there were cars driving by to see the lights long before it became a thing. Barbara and Al spent the last few years in the dream home they built in Egg Harbor Township, NJ, so they could be closer Atlantic City.

A true gentleman with a generous and kind soul, Al is survived by his wife Barbara, his brother Walter, sister Susan, sisters-in-law Brigitte and Theresa, and numerous nieces and nephews and their spouses and children who all adored and admired Allen. He will be forever missed.

Mass and funeral arrangements will be made at a later date.
