Valarie Basse Obituary
She was born April 11, 1916, in Dongola, to Charles Edward and Mary Jane (Parr) Johnson.
She married Ralph Basse on Jan. 15, 1939. He preceded her in death Aug. 12, 1990.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Anna, where she was a member of the Be Square Sunday school class and the UMW.
She was a homemaker. One of her greatest enjoyments in life was cooking for family, friends and church family.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and J. Dale Johnson of Anna; one son and daughter-in-law, Victor and Georgann Basse of Carbondale; three granddaughters and husbands, Celeste and Ricky Borders of Anna, Meredith and Gelber Ordonez of New York, N.Y., and Kristin and Jason Nemerow of Chicago; one great-granddaughter, Callysta Borders of Anna; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Amy Penrod; and two brothers, Virgil and James Johnson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July, 25, 2008, in United Methodist Church in Anna, with the Rev. Bill Minor officiating. Interment will be in Anna Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today in Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro.
Memorials may be made to United Methodist Church in Anna.
