I am deeply indebted to Mrs. Williams for the courage and brilliance that contributed to the end of legal segregation. Today we enjoy the opportunities that she was denied and that her refusal to give up made possible.

My deepest sympathy to the family. Before I retired from SSU as Benefits Manager, Mrs. Williams was one of my retirees that I spoke with on a constant basis.

Miss Alma was a beacon of light, a tower of strength, and a mentor not only to me, but to anyone who ever came in contact with her. My world is definitely a better place because Alma Williams walked the face of this earth. How grateful I am to have been placed in her path, just to sit at her feet, as she passed through her time here on earth.

Though I primarily knew Mrs. Williams as 'Percy's Mom', I've since found out she lived an extraordinary life. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

Mom:
How proud we are of you!
How honored I am to be your son!
How challenged by your legacy!
How wonderful it was to have your Godly example and a Christ-honoring upbringing! Hard sometimes, but wonderful, nonetheless.
How much I will miss you!
Love,
Percy
