ALTON "TONY" LEWIS
Shreveport, LA

Funeral services for Tony Lewis, 71, of Shreveport, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Chaplain Carl Barr. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 20 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, November 21 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Lewis was born in Logansport and died after a valiant battle with cancer on November 18, 2009. He was a mason, a veteran of the United States Navy, and a retired plumber. He lived a very active retired life. Mr. Lewis enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, riding his Harley-Davidson, learning about Native American Indian culture and customs, singing karaoke, dancing with his many friends, and spending time with his family and friends. Even as he was dying, he taught all of us about loving, living, and enjoying life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert "Leroy" Lewis and Edith Aleene Permenter Lewis. He is survived by two sons, Marc Lewis of Jackson, MS and Chris Lewis of Mansfield, TX; one sister, Joan Ballew and one niece, Cheryl Ballew, both of Shreveport; and a very special companion, Bobbie Morgan of Bossier City.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Masonic Lodge, #403, American Legion Post, #14, or the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #4588. The family would like to thank the staff of Southern Care Hospice for their love, compassion, and support.
