Alvaro Villalta, 59, of Carmel, passed away on October 13, 2014. Alvaro was born August 18th, 1955, in Cucuta, Colombia to the late Victor Manuel Villalta and Tulia Florez de Villalta. Alvaro graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. His determination, skill, and perseverance led to the founding of AV Consulting Engineers, an electrical design firm, in 1999. He later became the President of Durkin and Villalta Partners Engineering. Alvaro's many projects integrating Renewable Energy Technology and Sustainable Design will leave a lasting legacy throughout the Midwest. Alvaro was an avid cyclist and member of CIBA and NEBO. He traveled extensively and was an accomplished builder and gardener. Alvaro was devoted to family and was a loyal friend and mentor to many. His ready humor and generosity of spirit touched all around him. Alvaro is survived by his wife, Carla Elizabeth Villalta, married August 8th, 2008, children Eduardo Manuel Villalta, Monica Louise (David) Villalta Rabb, Nicholas Alvaro Villalta, Patrick (Erin) Lind, David Lind, and grandchildren Emma Lind and Bennett Lind. He is also survived by his siblings Fernando (Diane) Villalta, Margarita (Guillermo) Jimenez, Josue (Maria Eugenia) Villalta, Enrique Villalta, Raquel Villalta Florez, Lorenzo (Brusi) Villalta, Guillermo (Nancy) Villalta, Maria Eugenia Villalta, Myriam (Jeff) Elijah, Leonor Villalta, Jorge Alberto Villalta, and nineteen nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Alvaro Villalta Memorial Fund, a scholarship to assist deserving Colombian-born engineering students at Purdue University.
