Alvin G. Farans

Alvin G. Farans Resident of Westport Alvin G. Farans, 88, of Westport, passed away on Wednesday evening, April 6, 2016, surrounded by his family. Born January 22, 1928, in Norwalk, Ct., he was the son of the late William and Mildred Farans. Alvin attended Norwalk High School and graduated from Lehigh University, where he was the editor of the school newspaper and president of his fraternity, Pi Lambda Phi. He joined the Naval reserve and was called in to serve in Korea. He traveled extensively following his service, and returned home to join the family business, Pennsylvania Petroleum Company (Pepco). He enjoyed gardening, loved animals and was devoted to his family. Alvin is survived by his daughters, Danielle Finke of Ridgefield and Claudia Morse of New York City. He is also survived by his grandchildren Alexander, Emily, and Matthew Morse and Kiley and Keira Finke, and his nephews, Guy, Steven, and Bruce Green, and Brad Farans. He was predeceased by his brothers Paul and Neil, and his sister Diane. Services will be held at Temple Shalom, 259 Richards Avenue in Norwalk, CT., on Sunday, April 10th, at 12pm. Burial will follow IHS/Temple Shalom Cemetery, 143 Richards Avenue, Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Regional Hospice and Home Care Center of Western Connecticut (regionalhospicect.org) and the American Lung Association (www.lung.org).
